The Queen of Pop Janet Jackson invited ABC’s cameras to the set of her “Make Me” video and here a re a few video clips of some behind the scene footage of the Janet & her dancers filming the clip! Janet’s Number Ones compilation project hit stores this past Tuesday (Nov 17) and this is the lead single from the album.

This song is kind of hot!

Janet did a radio interview Tuesday morning with a station in D.C. and in an attempt to blast the rumors of she and Jermaine getting back together, she revealed that the pair were only friends and are NOT together:

95.5 WPGC D.C.: Now I wanna ask … you just mentioned Jermaine, and there are so many rumors going around. I don’t even know if you care to even talk about it. But, any plans on getting married?

Janet Jackson: No, I know the rumor that you’re talking about, and we’re not together. We never got back together. He’s still one of my best friends though, so people will see us together and in doing so, [people say] ‘Oh they’re together.’ But no, we’re not. I love that man.

WPGC: Aww…

Janet: I adore him, I really do. And he’s such a sweetheart. but no … we’re not together.

Beyonce took a chance and jumped straight into the middle of the crowd the other night at her London concert for her “I Am…” world tour. While performing her “Halo” song, which is the last performance of the 1 and a half to 2 hour set, the Sasha Fierce side of her took the f**k over and she just ran and stage dived into the crowd! Luckily they caught her and everything was alright.

We’re not entirely sure if management/security knew about this beforehand but if they didn’t we know they about sh*t their pants when she up and did that. After weeks and weeks of practice, an organized group of flash mobbers known as “Flash Mob America” showcased their Janet Jackson flash mob in the streets of Los Angeles Saturday (Nov 14). In the middle of The Grove, LA’s premiere retail and entertainment destination, the group performed a select few of Jackson’s hits including “If,” “Miss You Much” and “Nasty” while Janet herself watched the spectacle from the rafters.

In her interview with ABC’s Robin Roberts, Janet said she doesn’t want Dr. Conrad Murray, the man most likely responsible for her brother’s death, to continue practicing medicine. Why? Because she doesn’t want him to “accidentally” kill someone else. She also revealed that she doesn’t know if he was the only doctor giving Michael drugs, but she’s confident that the truth will come to light soon.

Her new compilation album, Number Ones, is in stores today and her big ABC interview will air tomorrow night at 9 PM.

Beyonce and her rapper husband Jay-Z were spotted by the London paparazzi last night (Sun Nov 15) as they made their way back to their vehicle after a night out at Whiskey Mist nightclub.

Jay-Z performed with his wife on stage earlier that night during Beyonce’s concert at the O2 Arena, which was also the taping of the second live DVD for her “I Am… ” world tour. Kanye West also made a surprise appearance and performed “Ego” with Bey at the sold out show. Award winning gospel singer Donnie McClurkin recently spoke at the COGIC 102 Holy Convocation International Youth Department Service and dedicated his sermon to bashing gays. McClurkin, known as an “ex-gay,” spoke about gay youth and Tonex, an openly gay gospel singer. I have seen the video and must say that I am honestly disgusted for several reasons. I loved Donnie McClurkin – I loved his music and he is a very talented man. But after this sermon, I have lost all respect for him. I know many of you are asking why. “He is saying what he believes to be the truth,” says one of my friends. My response: there is a difference between stating what you believe and gay bashing, which is what he did. I have written an open letter to Donnie McClurkin, which you can find below:

Dear Mr. Donnie McCurkin:

You don’t know me, but I do know you. I have listened to your music for many years and some of your sermons. Some of your songs have gotten me through difficult times in my life and not too long ago, I had your duet “The Prayer” with Yolanda Adams on repeat, one of my all time favorite songs. I recently watched the video of your sermon at the COGIC convention and every ounce of respect I had for you as a man, no, as a man of God, disappeared. If you are reading this, you might brush this off as I am sure you have heard many people condemn your bashing of gay men and women. No, I am not upset that you, an “ex-gay”, as you call it, do not agree with homosexual behavior. But your sermon was disgusting and appalling. Before I continue, let me make this clear: I am a devote Christian and have been for all the 19 years I have been alive. I was born into a strict African Christian home and as I write this, a Bible sits open next to me.

As Chris Brown left an NYC Footaction store last week and made his way to his car, the 20-year-old entertainer was met with the screams and cheers of his fans. But one lady stood out when she started shouting things like “f**king beater” and “I hope someone beats the f**king crap out of you!”

BET’s 106 & Park’s host Rocsi sat down with Chris Brown to further discuss the domestic violent assault against ex-girlfriend Rihanna. This wass the first Chris Brown has publicly talked about the incident with an open studio audience viewing at the same time.

In the interview, Rocsi asked Chris a number of times if he understood the severity of his actions that took place during the infamous night in February  and how he thinks fans see him now. This girl on Facebook made a video and dedicated a special song to her father who had passed away … and we know for a fact that you won’t be able to guess what song she chose to sing! Even if we gave you a million chances! She was all choked up about to break down and everything…

I’ve just been down lately, thinking about my daddy, who is no longer alive. And I’ve been dealing with that because he died at such a young age … You think about what your life could have been if he was here, like small things, like graduation, prom.

It’s just a lot of heartache that come along with losing a parent. And there’s this one song that gets me through it, it’s his favorite song. He used to sing it all the time. So I just want to sing this song to help me through it or whatever and I decided, ‘Maybe I should share this with Facebook,’ you feel me?

So just give me a minute…

Now we’re not making fun of the girl for showing love to her late father, but we just can’t understand why the song she sung would have her so emotional and on the verge of tears. Up and coming actress Gabourey Sidibe sat down with syndicated talk show host Ellen DeGeneres a couple of weeks ago in an interview to promote her new Oscar worthy movie “Precious,” set to hit theaters nationwide this December.

We love us some Gabby! Her bubbly personality jumped at us before she even sat on the couch. When Ellen introduced her she came out and danced to Ne-Yo’s “Closer” song, later revealing that she and a friend choreographed the whole thing weeks ago before she even knew she would be on Ellen. Big girl got some moves too!

But our favorite part of the interview would have to be towards the end (about 5 minutes into it) when she recalled a funny story about a reporter asking her to give a 30 second preview of her Oscar speech, you know, just “in case” she wins one. And she talked about how she freaked out and accidentally blew up at the reporter.

Ellen: There’s so much Oscar buzz going on and you’ve gotta be excited about that

Gabby: I try not to think about it really because it’s so premature, so it’s crazy to think about. I just did the London Film Festival and a reporter asked me, “Can you give us a 30 second preview of your Oscar speech?” and I freaked out, like on camera! I was like, “Give me a 30 second preview of your Oscar speech!” I almost punched her in the mouth, I was so mad! [laughing]

Ever since Kanye West temporarily stole her shine at this years VMAs, it seems like Taylor Swift’s stock has shot up a bit. Hell, we’re not even going to lie. She’s generated some interest amongst us over here at Gossip On This too. Let’s be real now. Trust and believe if Mr. West hadn’t snatched that mic out of her hand a lot of people who are checking for her today wouldn’t even be given her a second thought right about now.

The young country music/pop star hosted NBC’s Saturday Night Live over the weekend and opened up the show with a pretty funny song she wrote called the “Monologue Song (La La La).” In the short melodic parody, Swift took some shots at her ex boyfriend Joe Jonas, “douchebags who cheat on her,” and her new friend (sarcasm, people) Kanye.

Now that Michael Jackson is gone there is a heightened interest in the Jackson family as a whole, and the A&E network has decided to showcase the Jackson: A Family Dynasty on Sunday, Dec. 13th, at 9 p.m.

A&E will have a six show run and two-hour episodes. The show will include brothers Jermaine, Tito, Marlon and Jackie as they prepare for a reunion tour across the U.S. with what was supposed to also include a performance Michael Jackson in Texas next summer. The shooting of the TV show started up again after the death of MJ in June and these episodes will talk about their personal reaction and emotion to the situation of their brother’s sudden death.

In a 30 second preview of the show, tagged “You only think you know them,” the brothers can be heard in voiceover discussing their comeback.

“It’s been 20 years since we were in the studio,” one says. “How are we going to make this happen?” another replies.

“I never wanted to hurt y’all; I never wanted to be separated,” a third pleads over stock footage of their modest upbringing in Gary, Indiana, as the phrase “The wait is over” flashes on the screen.

“We’ve never forgotten where we come from,” another says. “What do we got? Each other. Let’s show them who we are.”

This touching footage of the Jacksons living their American Dream will give us an inside look of these superstars’ reality. No word on whether or not Jackson’s three children (Prince Michael, Paris and Prince Michael II) will be included the show.  In the meantime, peep the trailer after the break!

In an exclusive one-on-one with ABC’s Diane Sawyer, pop singer Rihanna was very open about her and Chris Brown’s big February 2009 assault incident. Among other things she talked about why she went back to him originally, what she thought about his public apology and talked about what really happened in the car that night. She said as he was biting and punching her, he “had no soul in his eyes.”

“There was no person when I looked at him,” the 21-year-old singer recalled during the interview. “He had no soul in his eyes. Just blank.”

But does she want to give him a second chance? It would have to be in the future of course because for the next 5 years it would be illegal for her to even speak to him.

“I don’t have a desire at all to be with him. I can’t see how we could get back together but I’m also not God and I can not predict the future. It’s actually rather annoying that there is still some sort of emotion there. … I am strong. This happened to me. I didn’t cause this. I didn’t do it. This happened to me and it can happen to anyone. I’m glad it happened to me because now I can help young girls when they go through it. I will say that to any young girl that’s going through domestic violence. Don’t react off of love. Eff love. Come out of the situation and look at it third person for what it really is and then make your decision because love is so blind. It’s so blind.”

We guess Chris Brown is taking his turn to speak on the incident, even after he and his label put out that all further appearances/interviews would only relate to his new album and not the assault between him and Rihanna.

In a sit down with MTV News correspondent Sway, which aired on TV Friday (Nov 6), Chris talked about his September 2009 interview with CNN’s Larry King and how he was afraid how he would come off to the public when all was said and done:

“I was so nervous. I was super nervous. I didn’t know what to think [going in],” Brown said. “[There's] really not too much preparing you can do,” he continued. “I did a lot of media training and a lot of stuff like that, and it kind of wasn’t genuine to me. Everything I was saying was from my heart, but it was kind of controlled. ‘Well, don’t say it like this, because it will look like that.’”

Brown said he wanted to “just be personable,” but the setting was uncomfortable for him. “It wasn’t that kind of situation where I could be me,” he said. “So I was just: ‘I don’t wanna say anything wrong.’ ”

“The point of how I felt and what I wanted to get across came out [in the CNN interview], but I think at the end of the day, with any interview, even with this interview, I’m going to get public scrutiny or criticism regardless of what I say,” Brown said. “So I just didn’t know what was going to be said. I just wanted to let people know how I felt, at the end of the day.”

Miranda Cosgrove and Brody Jenner presented Beyonce with the award for “Best Video” at the 2009 MTV EMA last night (Thur Nov 5). And when Beyonce made her speech she said she only wanted to thank one person:

“Okay, there’s only one person I wanna thank. …. And that is Jay for putting a ring on it”

Wait, this can’t really be the first time Beyonce has publicly acknowledged her marriage to Jay-Z in the past year and a half can’t it?? Better late than never we guess but damn!

Beyonce’s music video for “Single Ladies” beat out “Waking Up In Vegas” (Katy Perry), “Circus” (Britney Spears), “We Made You” (Eminem), “She Wolf” (Shakira) in the category. Earlier in the night she performed her hit single “Sweet Dreams.”

Rapper Jay-Z came out and spat some verses as he performed “Sunday Bloody Sunday” with U2 in front of Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate during the 2009 MTV EMAs (Europe Music Awards) in Germany. This comes just a few days short of the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall (Nov 9th).

U2 partnered up with MTV Europe and performed a free concert to help the city celebrate the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Being over 8,000 miles away from New York City didn’t stop Jay-Z from repping his hometown to the fullest when he performed his hit single “Empire State of Mind” from his latest album Blueprint 3 Thursday night (Nov 5) in Berlin Germany at the O2 Arena for the 2009 EMAs (Europe Music Awards).

Alicia Keys is featured on the track and music video but was unable to make it to Germany to perform the song with Jay, so his new artist Bridget Kelly filled in and to tell you the truth, homegirl could really give Alicia a run for her money! Wearing a long dark black dress, singer Leona Lewis performed her latest single “Happy” on stage last night (Thur Nov 5) at the 2009 MTV Europe Music Awards, held at the O2 Arena in Berlin, Germany.

We love Leona and judging solely on vocals, she nailed it! But her performance was definitely forgettable because she just stood in one spot … the … entire … performance, which is really boring. We were hoping she would at least slowly walk down that big azz catwalk as the song progressed or something! It’s a good thing she’s VERY easy on the eyes and had all of those nice visual effects on the screen helping her out.

Promoting her latest album She Wolf, Colombian Latin-pop singer/songwriter Shakira performed a great rendition of her new single “Did It Again” at Thursday night’s (Nov 5) 2009 MTV Europe Music Awards in Berlin.

We love how the performance started out just like the music video! Truth be told, we have no idea what she’s saying (who really listens to the words anyway? LOL) but that doesn’t take away from the energy of the overall performance one bit. The ending was dope too, when she put the mic down and did the choreography with the drummers.

Beyonce took to the stage to perform at the MTV Europe Music Awards today in Berlin, Germany to perform her single “Sweet Dreams.” Naturally, she worked it out but we gotta admit we were expecting her to top the epic performance of “Single Ladies” she did at this year’s VMAs. This performance just felt really rushed and had very limited dancing. But she’s still Beyonce so you know she killed it anyway! We’re not saying the performance was bad, we just expected a bit more, you know?

Good Morning America aired a snippet of the interview with Rihanna that will air tomorrow at tomorrow at 10pm EST on “20/20″. And it looks like she is going to go in on Chris Brown and possibly “the situation.” We’re kind of sad that this is what it’s resulted to to sell an album. We’re not condoning violence but to throw Chris under the bus simply to promote your own album…something about that doesn’t seem right.

Through all of Chris’ interviews, he held a sense of respect for Rihanna and what happened and said it was between both of them. Unfortunately, it looks like Rihanna will not be doing the same. We’re just hoping she doesn’t blame everything on Chris because even though we weren’t there, we know it takes two to tango and Chris didn’t tango alone. We wonder what his reaction is going to be after this airs.

Pop and R&B singer/songwriter Leona Lewis performed live on stage Monday night (Nov 2) in London, England at the Hackney Empire. She admits that she was terrified shortly before she hit the stage to perform at her first ever solo full length concert, but she says it went by so fast and she wants to do it more often by going on a world tour next year

“I wasn’t nervous until I got to the side of the stage, then I started shaking. I felt it went so fast and now I just want to do it again. I can’t wait to tour next year,” said Lewis. “I was so worried about falling over in front of the audience. I have never done anything like that before. I was so nervous,” she added.

Immediately following Hov and Alicia’s big performance, R&B singer John Legend took center field and sang the United States National Anthem, “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

R&B singer turned reality star Kandi Burruss just can’t understand how some bloggers popped up out of nowhere with stories that she was pregnant by her late ex fiance AJ, who was killed a few weeks ago at a nightclub in Atlanta.

“That is such bull! Do people get up every morning and just decide to make up stories and lies? I’m like, Did I gain weight to make people think that? I don’t understand it,” Kandi told Essence.com. “It’s just hilarious how people will believe everything they read…. Someone called me the other day and I didn’t give any more thought to the rumor because I’m like who would believe that, especially if the news didn’t come directly from me? So for the record, I am not pregnant with A.J. Jewell’s child. I’m not pregnant with anybody’s child.“

Eighteen people were injured at an Akon (featuring T-Pain) concert in Melbourne, Australia Monday night (Oct 26) when over 50 people rushed security guards to get into the venue. Sadly 8 to 11 of the eighteen people had to be rushed to the hospital for serious trauma.  Although a lot of fans were involved in the chaotic brawl only a 21 year old male who knocked a security guard unconsciousness during the melee has been charged with assault.

To no avail, Akon jumped into crowd during his performance to try stop the crowd from fighting.  A YouTube video shows Akon jumping down with his body guards trying to calm the fans down while the crowd cheered. Akon, top of one of his bodyguards’ shoulders at this this point, directs his attention toward the crowd saying, “Hold on Melbourne…I need ya’ll to let me speak for one second. I don’t know if ya’ll know how hard it took me to get there. It took me almost two years for Australia… and I am not going to let them f*ck up our concert tonight.”

Actor/writer/director Tyler Perry spoke out on fellow director Spike Lee’s comments about his projects, including his Madea films and his television shows “Meet the Browns” and “Tyler Perry’s House of Payne.” And Perry didn’t hold back one bit.

Tyler Perry is one of the good guys of the entertainment business and let Lee have it. ”I would love to read that to my fan base,” Perry said. “Let me tell you what Madea, Brown and all of these characters are bait. Disarming, charming make you laugh bait so that I can slap Madea in something and talk about God, love, faith, forgiveness, family any of those things you know.”

He added that he is that he’s “insulted” and “pissed off” by comments Lee made about his work last May.

Your boy Chris Brown just can’t let well enough be can he? The 20-year-old musician posted this YouTube video to his Twitter account earlier today along with the message, “IM SORRY YALL. JUST HAD TO POST IT.” The video features a sad melodic backing track along with a montage of different pictures and video clips of Chris and his ex girlfriend Rihanna before their big fight back in February 2009 (almost a year ago).

Dude can’t legally speak to Rihanna (or even be in her presence) for 5 years so it’s high time he chills out or this half-decade is going to feel like half a century! We think he needs to just let this go and move on with his life. You don’t see Rihanna pouring her heart out all on her Twitter do you?

“RIP Kanye West” became a trending topic on Twitter (and Google) earlier this week after a hacking organization known as 4Chan hacked into credible news websites, including Fox.com (as seen above) and began spreading a story about Kanye West dying in a car crash Tuesday (Oct 20).

Kanye’s girlfriend Amber Rose immediately came to her man’s defense via her Twitter, saying that she didn’t find any humor in continuing to spread word that Kanye had died, even though it had been made clear that he was alive and well.

‘RIP Kanye West’ topic is not funny and it’s NOT TRUE! He has people like myself and his family that love him very much. … It’s in extreme poor taste to have that as a trendy topic. It’s totally disrespectful to make up a story like this we’re all human … and we all make mistakes and to say someone died cuz of a mistake is ridiculous. You wouldn’t want someone to say that about you.”

TLC’s Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins was recently on The Mo’Nique Show on BET where she revealed that she she and the other members of TLC held Arista and Clive Davis at gun point because of the shady dealing of the music industry. Michael Jackson’s new movie “This Is Set” is set to hit theaters nationwide next Wednesday (Oct 28) for a limited 2 week run and MTV has released 5 never before seen clips from the film! The movie snippets feature songs like “Human Nature,” “The Way You Make Me Feel, “They Don’t Care About Us” and more.

After watching these videos, it’s kind of sad to think about how the show will never really be seen in its “LIVE” form. We know Michael would have killed it. We know dude put on a good show during rehearsals, but imagine how amazing the concert would have been live in person with him performing in front of thousands of people! We were all geared up to get plane tickets to London and grab tickets for one of the February or March 2010 dates too. But we guess we have no choice but to settle on the “This Is It” movie, a close second best.

Jamie Foxx is a funny dude! While on the promo trail for his new movie “Law Abiding Citizen,” the actor/comedian/singer sat down for an interview with Conan O’Brien recently and talked about a few things in addition to the movie, including a possible role as Mike Tyson in a biopic, whether or not he’d take up Kirstie Allie’s Twitter booty call offer and explained how that leaked nude pic made it to the Internet. Retired championship boxer Mike Tyson was a special guest on Monday’s (Oct 12) episode of “The Oprah Winfrey Show.” But this wasn’t the same Mike Tyson we knew in the media back in the day. This was a new Mike Tyson, ready to focus on his family and try to change the way the public sees him. He told Oprah he was “tired of failing.”

Tyson opened up about most of his headline-grabbing actions over the years, including his years in prison, his tempestuous eight-month marriage to Robin Givens, his long addiction to drugs, the $400 million fortune he squandered, the 1997 comeback match in which he bit Evander Holyfield’s ear, and — for the first time — the death of his 4-year-old daughter earlier this year.

VH1 aired T.I.’s episode of their newly returned original series, “Behind the Music” last Thursday (Oct 8). If you didn’t catch it or caught it and would like to see it again, here it is! The 41 minute video really dives deep into T.I.’s past life as a drug dealer and budding rap star. He also goes a bit more in depth into the situation that left his best friend/assistant Philant Johnson dead and explains why he was carrying a stock pile of firearms following that incident.

In 2006, T.I. released his fourth album “King” and also made his movie debut in the film ATL. But drama would meet him once again that spring. At a concert after-party in Cleveland, Ohio an altercation erupted between the rapper and some club goers. After leaving the club, the vehicle carrying T.I. and his entourage was sprayed with a barrage of bullets – wounding the driver, T.I.’s bodyguard, and T.I.’s personal assistant and good friend Philant Johnson. Phil was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The death of Phil caused T.I. to feel immense guilt; questioning if he wanted to continue with his rap career. He said for all the times he’d been arrested for having guns the one time he needed a gun he didn’t have one.

2007’s “T.I. vs. TIP” highlighted T.I.’s heightened paranoia following the death of Phil. If that wasn’t bad enough, police officials that same year informed him that his name and address were on a “hit list” compiled by gang members. T.I. was also receiving death threats via phone calls that were being sent to him and his family members. Because of this he started to stockpile firearms.

T-Pain released a track and an accompanying video called “More Careful” last weekend where he appears to be apologizing for making a fool of himself recently when he dissed Jay-Z to get attention. The freestyle is set to Trey Songz and Drake’s “Successful” song and you can hear Pain saying: “I got the money, the money and the cars, the cars and the clothes, and unless I wanna let it all go, I just gotta be, I just gotta be more careful,” he croons on the chorus.”

Code 10, officer down! We repeat … code 10, officer down! Rapper Rick Ross took a nasty fall on stage at a recent show. While performing his verse for “Out Here Grindin’” the Miami native stepped too close near the edge of the stage, which caused him to slip and fall. You would think that him falling would be the highlight of the video, but seeing his handlers rush on stage to try to pick his big azz up was the funniest part of the clip!

Boy, we would pay good money to get a chance to see 50 Cent’s reaction to this the first time he saw the video. Check it out (at the 0:22 mark) for yourselves below.

Halle Berry is letting it be known that she is not pregnant, contrary to rumors that popped up recently about her and boyfriend Gabriel Aubry expecting their second little one. When she sat down and Jay told her how great she looked, she thanked him noting the recent pregnancy rumors and explaining to him how she was beginning to get a complex on how she looked.

The hot mama stepped out in a skin-tight little black dress on Jay Leno’s new NBC primetime show on Thursday – and there wasn’t a baby bump in sight. The 43-year-old gave birth to her daughter Nahla just last March, but a couple of less than flattering pix recently sparked rumors that the Academy Award-winner was preggers once again. “I was getting a complex!” she told Leno, blaming fast food for the temporary weight gain. “I was like, I’ve got to stop with the burgers, or something!” she said.

Well, whatever she did worked! Berry looked stunning in cinched frock with a plunging neckline that left little to the imagination, paired with knee-high black leather boots. “You look great!” said Leno, reassuring her that “You always look terrific.” Granted, she and her partner, model Gabriel Aubry, 34, have been vocal about someday expanding their family – just maybe not anytime soon. Berry purposely posed sideways for the cameras on Thursday to flaunt her fab – and flat-tummied – physique.

She’s also reportedly signing up for a new feature film, according to Variety, which reports the actress is set to star in the upcoming action-thriller “Dark Tide,” to begin shooting in South Africa later this year – a rather intense project for a mommy-to-be.

Funny man Affion Crockett recently posted this hilarious video spoof to his YouTube page. The video is a parody of Jay-Z’s “Run This Town,” featuring Rihanna and Kanye West, but has a big twist. Instead of the words, “Who’s gonna run this town tonight,” the female portraying Rihanna in the song/video is saying “Who’s gonna hunt Chris Brown tonight?” and the whole video has Rihanna, along with Jay and Kanye (both played by Affion) leading a manhunt to hunt down Chris, also played by Affion. The beginning of the video is completely hilarious as it shows Affion dressed up in a blue sweater and a bow tie mocking Chris’ Larry King interview. Following his much publicized outburst at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, rapper Kanye West sat down with famous TV personality Jay Leno for a short interview aired on the live premiere of Leno’s new primetime show, “The Jay Leno Show” Monday night. In the interview, a very somber Kanye West apologized (for the third time) and explained his side of the situation while making sure he wasn’t trying to justify his own actions.

When Leno recalled meeting West’s late mother Dr. Donda West (who passed away in November 2007) and asked Kanye what she would have thought about his actions Sunday night (Sep 13) at the VMAs, the Chicago bred rapper sat silent for more than 20 seconds to try and compose himself. The live audience was also dead silent as they wanted to hear what Kanye had to say.

“Obviously, I deal with hurt, and so many celebrities, they never take the time off, and I never took the time off, really,” West explained. “I’ve really never taken the time off. It’s been music after music and tour after tour. And I’m just ashamed my hurt caused someone else hurt.”

Leno said West asked to speak prior to the Jay-Z-led performance and thanked the superstar for honoring the commitment to perform. West said the past 24 hours had been extremely difficult for him. He said he immediately knew his behavior was inappropriate and apologized for stepping on Swift’s emotion, as the young starlet was jittery onstage celebrating her big VMA win. “It was just very rude, period,” West said. “I’d like to apologize to her in person.”

Leno tried to lighten the mood at times, asking West when he knew his protest crossed the line. “As soon as I gave the mic back to her and she didn’t keep going,” he said to a small laugh from the audience. West, however, was anything but humorous throughout his three minutes with Leno. He teared up when the talk-show host brought up his late mother, whom he lost in November 2007 due to complications following cosmetic surgery. The rapper addressed his broken engagement and mother’s passing in his last album, 808s & Heartbreak, but he’s attempted to deal with his emotions onstage rather than behind closed doors.

Now, he appears to be ready to confront some buried pains in private. “I have to analyze how I’m gonna make it through the rest of this life and improve,” he said.
